Books For Bedtime

This non profit was started by Meagan when she was 11 years old. Meagan is an active member of Mensa, and began reading at age 2. As she got older, she realized that books were such an integral part of her life, and wanted to help every child have a book to read for bed, hence Books For Bedtime was founded! Her goal is to get books to children who do not have the financial means to have a lot of books. Meagan collects books for children from birth to age 17! She is distributing books around Columbus, Ohio, working with schools with high free lunch program counts, as well as homeless shelters. She is hoping to expand as her non profit grows. She is eager to find connections to other agencies with whom she can partner, in order to distribute books! As of June, 2016, Meagan has distributed nearly 14,000 books to children in need! Notes of Honor: May, 2015 Books For Bedtime received 501c3 tax exempt status from the IRS! May, 2015 Meagan found out that she was a regional winner for the Kohl's Cares Scholarship Contest! She will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship for college. April 2016 Meagan became a Jefferson Award winner May 2016 Meagan became the Prudential Spirit of Community middle level winner for Ohio!

Carson Scholars Fund has posted photos from the celebration event last month! This was such a great event, and everyone was so helpful, even as I battled an, unknown at the time, POTS diagnosis! Hearing Ben Carson for a second year in a row was wonderful. He's a true inspiration!

Today I was so grateful for the Ohio Reading Corps volunteers who came over to stamp and sort over 1,000 books! I wasn’t able to do much because of my illness, but I did find a book that is of importance, now that I’ve been diagnosed with POTS... salt pills are my new best friend!

Several years ago, Meagan was honored to be featured on the Barbara Bush Foundation's Facebook page. We are saddened by the death of such a passionate supporter of literacy. Your legacy will live on!
